"Real" Racing on Speedvision!
If you go to Speedvision right now, you can catch the end of a motorcycle race. It's the Cook's Town 100??? These guys are racing on real roads - narrow spectator-lined roads, ala the old Targa Floria & Mille Miglia. Wild stuff. Getting air over rises in the road. And it's raining to make things even more interesting. These guys are absolutely nuts. -- Curt

Dang, it's over. It was on Motorsport Mondial. Have to see if they'll be showing it again. Very good stuff!

Real racing, indeed!! Enjoyed every minute of it. Too bad we couldn't see the entire race.
Along with the Isle Of Man TT and some other *road* races in Europe, these are the last of the breed. However, I do have mixed feelings about this kind of racing. The risks are extremely high for the competitors. These sort of races have claimed the lives of many great riders. Last of note was Joey Dunlop. We'll never see the likes of him again.

I second the Isle of Mann!
Cannot wait to see that one again. What about that farce of a Indy 500 today? They held the yellow for one extra lap, as someone threw a popcan on the track ......I mean wanted to give Penske a little more track.

I know there're some videos out on the Isle of Man TT. Always wanted to get one and now I think I will! Doug's right, this is dangerous stuff! Look at all the fence posts in that photo. And the padding around the one at the turn - 50's technology!! I love it. -- Curt

This film features the late Joey Dunlop as he pilots his Honda Superbike around the Isle Of Man and the fearsome Dundrod circuit in N. Ireland. The on-bike camera work will raise the hair on your neck! Good stuff for bike racing freaks (me).

Isle Of Man..now that brings back memories.. Joey Dunlop was awesome there, but have to say second to Mike Hailwood.... came back after years away from Bikes and still walked away from the rest of the field......True Road Racing on motorbikes... I remember seeing Dave Croxford on the JPN Commando along with Peter Williams there years back also.....holding up the Flag for Norton..... and Mad Sunday on the Island is something every motor bike enthusiast should experience at leats once!!!.. Oh such memories!!!!!!

Speedchannel is carrying (and repeating a number of times) the TT from the Isle of Man. It is on in early June, if you check out their listings, it is already in the schedule.
Speaking of "Real Racing", don't forget the SpeedGT race from Lime Rock later this week. They have 911's that actually race other cars!!!

Real Racing (Isle of Man)
Actually I think it's "V-Four Victory" in honor of the Honda VFR racebike. A couple of Joey Dunlop quotes stuck with me:
1. In response to a question about hazards of the TT course, Joey opines "You hit a lot of birds". 2. General observation on racing on public roads at 180 mph: "There's gray blur and green blur. You try to stay on the gray blur". Apply thick Ulsterman accent as required. He was the best.
