Should air come out of the defroster vents while moving?

I took my '84 Carrera out yesterday and noticed a whistling noise with the windows down that wasn't there before.

I did drive the car about 300 miles saturday and had adjusted the fan and venting levers while driving. This whistling wasn't noticed during this trip. I have not touched them since last fall for heat/defrost.

During my short drive yesterday while trying to locate the whistling, I noticed the air coming from the defrost vents. This was with all 3 levers to the left. Is this normal? Sorry if this is a dumb question, but this is my first 911 and I still have alot to learn.

Thanks in advance.

Dean

You could check the front trunk seal. If it is not sealing up, air will be pushed through your dash. Not sure about the defrost vents, however. I am sure it is possible that your fresh air lever is not closing the pathway all the way, too.

Make sure your hood is closed tightly. Push down on it to see if the release hadn't been pulled by mistake.

Yep! I did it once. Only once. I could not believe how much ai blows through with the front trunk unlatched.

Good call guys. I must of left the hood partially closed after unloading. I noticed the hood partially open after posting this last night. Took the car out today no whistling no excessive air from defrost vents. I might not have corelated this to the problem.

Thank god the hood did not open while I was driving. I'll be sure this doesn't happen again.

Thanks.

No worries, we've all done it, hence the quick answers.

Have fun with it.
