What color is this?

I just bought this car last week and I would like to know if this is maybe an original color. The car is a 1975 that was originally red I believe. I found traces of red on the mirrors. There is no paint code any where.

Porsche Crest paint code...

The factory code for Speed Yellow is "X4". I believe it wasn't available until the 1995/993 evolution

H.D. ... you are mistaken about your car's color!

That is '516' -- Sahara Beige, and the following thread has several pic's of Matt Holcomb's car in the same shade:

Some new, aggrandizing images!

that is correct...516 is the paint code, but the only beige I am able to find is dessert beige. Anyone know where I can get the paint as listed (516 Sahara Beige). Need to do some touch-up. I almost picked up the wrong stuff...car looks yellow to me.

H.D. ... any automotive paint store can mix a quart of acrylic enamel in Porsche '516' code and it will match perfectly.

As an alternative, for about the same price ... any dealer can order a touch-up bottle with brush for the '516' code, too!

Get a gallon of enamel reducer from the same brand as the paint you get mixed ... clean out a fingernail polish bottle with brush ... brake spray cleaner/degreaser, followed by a few rinses with a bit of the enamel reducer ... let dry thoroughly. Pour in half paint/half reducer ... or whatever the instructions on the reducer can say, and you have a bottle of touch-up paint!!! Even tho' the paint mfrs generally say that mixed paint only has a shelf life of one year, my experience with mixed Dupont Centari (in several shades ... signal yellow, guards red, black, avacado gold, pearl white) has been that it is good for at least 5-8 years if stored indoors at normal room temperature!

Here is the '74 color chart from the factory service manual:
