Post 993 ride height

I am looking at a 97 993s. The car has been lower to the point the fenders approx 1/2' above tires. I think the cars need to be lowered but I am wondering if this isn't to much?

It's hard to say by the wheel wells alone because of the variations in wheel and tire diameters. Technically the 993 ride height is measured from known locations under the car. This is covered in the shop manuals.

Lowering a 993 is not like lowering a 911. There are no adjusters to tweak the ride height. You have to change the springs or put in a new suspension with adjustable perches.

Note to the guy who is going to say that the 993 front has height adjustment perches: This is very limited and really only intended for corner balancing.
