Anyone run a performance catalytic converter?

Just wondering if anyone runs a performance or high flow cat on their car. Not thrilled with my cat delete, but my cat is cloggged. Was thinking of buying a universal performance cat and welding to my cat delete. Any opinions? Thanks!

Define "performance". Are you talking something like Magnaflow or something like a sport cat?

I recently asked the same question. Didn't get many responses. Definitely interested in hearing from others.

Euro premuffler is the way to go for performance...I have a Fabspeed on mine. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1345681607.jpg

Like many others have said in cat delete threads, can't stand the smell of cat deletes/pre-mufflers.
Saw an inexpensive Magnaflow universal cat that I was thinking of having a friend weld to my cat delete pipe.

I run a single sport cat on my 3.6 conversion. 993 HEs, Y pipe to a collector, 3inch inlet cat, spiral type....looks like a small "cheery bomb" muffler to a single outlet.

I know the smell you are referring to...I've never smelled that with mine???

If your exhaust smells after the cat is removed you need to adjust your idle mixture. No reason at all for a cat-less engine to smell any more/less than any other engine that never had a cat.

Nice to know...I reckon my mixture is fine. All Porsches (and Harleys) don't leak oil either :)! I've had my Fabspeed premuffler (and GHL muffler) for a long time, before other options were available. I've been very pleased, but If I were shopping now, I'd sure be looking at M&K solutions...

I ran a performance cat for a while but switched to a Euro Pre-muffler. I can't really say if there was any gain in performance or not.

I am planning on putting the cat in the for sale section as soon as I dig it out of the shed if anyone is interested.

Which performance cat did you use? It would be interesting to measure how well the cat works (as a cat) versus performance. There is no performance difference in a pre-muffler versus bypass as both are open straight through, only noise level.

OK, newbie alert, how do I adjust the idle mixture? Thanks!
