HELP! "Hanging" Clutch pedal

1970 911T:
When I push in the clutch pedal and then release it about half-way, the pedal feels like it's getting caught on something. The pedal only "binds" on the way back, not when I push it in. I've replaced and adjusted the clutch cable and have about 1" free play. I checked what I can but I can't see where it's getting caught up.
Any ideas?

Could it be the pedal cluster? When I had the clutch cable off, the pedal didn't feel like it was binding on anything but maybe when there's tension applied, the pedal binds???

Any other thoughts?

I had the exact same problem on my 69T. The clutch cable was frayed and this was causing it to hang up. This is a very easy fix, but be forwarned, it is a greazzzzy job.

I've already replaced the cable but it's still the same

Sorry, I hit submit to fast. When I pulled out the old cable part of the frayed strands were still in the casing. I cut as much as possible off the old one and reinstalled it a few more times. On the second removal a few additional strands came out that were caught on the casing. If you cable was frayed bad you may want to check that out.

Now I can hit submit.

I'm not sure but I think the clutch arm pivots in the bell housing. I think there arre bushings in there that are prone to seizing. There may be a article on it. try a search on htis site>
Good Luck
Kevin
