fitting a brake booster to RHD

ok guys i have a RHD 76 with out a booster

does anyone have suggestions on how to retrofit

there will be time to do the discs and calipers later

but i would like to complete the fabrication before new paint goes on

any assistance would be appreciated

There have been posts here about how this is done, but I searched and did not (easily) find them. The important piece of info is that you must reinforce the area where the booster-master cylinder setup is mounted. John Walker (a man on this forum who really knows what he's doing) mentioned grafting in the sheet metal in this area from a boosted brake car, which is the best way to go. The other way that I've seen discussed is the addition of reinforcements and heavier sheet metal.

Hi Michael

You're doing a great job on your resto. I do have to ask why you want vacuum boost? A well set up set of unboosted brakes on a 911 are superb...

I Have a 77 C3 that has had a booster retrofitted, I can take some pictures from in the compartment and under the dash so you can see what to do.

+1 on grafting a stronger plate in, it also has to be recessed to enable clearing the luggage hood when closed.

Have you access to a RHD 911SC? pretty much copy how the factory did it!

can some one tell me if there is a difference in a RHD booster to a LHD booster , as it seems that the leaver coming down out of the booster mount, slants to the left which makes it difficult to line up the rod to the pedal.

also if any one has some measuremenst to assist in locating the booster in the exact right location that would be great

regards Michael
