Repairing Starter for '90 C2 Targa
I think I have a bad starter on my '90 911 C2. My battery is fully charged, but when I turn the ignition, the starter barely turns over. If I keep trying to start it, after 5-10 tries, it will begin turning over fast enough to start.
Does this sound like a starter that needs replacing? If so, is this something that I can do myself? I have done it on many other cars, but never tried it on a 911. I don't have any specialized tools, so if I need to lift the engine, or do something major, I will need to take it into the shop. Would love to save some money, though, as I just got laid off. Thanks for any help. FDuvall By the way - I have been reading all of the other posts on starters on the forum. Still hoping that someone recognizes my symptoms! It was a bad battery
Turns out my battery, though only 6 months old, had a bad cell. Much easier and cheaper than replacing the starter.
