Jeez - I'm glad I didn't ask about putting a Mazda rotary engine in back...:D

HAhaha

Seriously though... negatives - watercooling hassles (same as V8 - radiator etc), keeping it cool 'cause they run hot.

Positives - easy 300+hp with a 13B turbo, very very light weight.

I have seen, and driven, that conversion(Mazda turbo rotary in early 911). Still the question of WHY comes up, but it WAS lighter than stock in rear, radiator in front probably made it pretty close to balanced f/r, and w/ claimed 300+hp it felt faster than stock 930's I've driven. Forget about that wonderful Porsche sound, however.

The guy built it for street-racing, "Fast and the Furious" style, he was not exactly a "purist", then got tired of project and parted it out. I got the rebuilt 915 ltd. slip out of it.
