How can I find out my porsche's original color?
Is there a code on the tub somewhere that denotes the color? Also, is what I hear true? In 76' and some other years porsche used yellow primer below all colors even black? Many porsches I see being stripped from original have yellow primer.
Anyone? Thanks... |
oh yeah...and i have no title, just a bill of sale from PAP.

the code is on a small square plate inside the drivers door, between the hinges. You can look up the color from the code at
paintscratch.com |
FYI - I am in the process of painting my 75. It is lime green from the factory and has yellow primer under the paint.

Got to say, paintscatch.com seems quite in accurate and omits many colours. The colour code is a small plate on the drivers side A post - open the drivers door, look on the A post, between the door hinges you should see a small plate riveted to the A post, on that you'll see a number and that is your colour code. If you post it here I will look it up for you. Book such as Peter Morgan's, Original Porsche 911 are very useful and exact for checking up stuff like this.

I like the table at the 912 site which lists many colors and has some paint chips as well:
http://www.912registry.org/restore/pcode.htm Hope this helps! Regards, |
Charlie Carerra....
I noticed that you don't have the code for Talbot Yellow for 76.. Its 106-9-2 Just thought you might wanna know. |
Found it...its talbot yellow...
But that color hurts my eyes so I think I'll go with black. Anyone have a porsche with this color and actually like it? |
Saffs "Got to say, paintscatch.com seems quite in accurate and omits many colours."
The color paintscratch show's for the lime green is way off. My car is a really bright color nothing like the darker color shown at their site. I really like the brightness of the green as it is not a very commonly seen color. The PO painted the car tangerine red years back and now the green is showing in the wheelwells, engine compartment and any place it is chipped, so back to the original color it goes. |
