I bought a Jack Pad from our host.
I would like to get some opinions of what type of jack to get for changing a flat tire. One thing I do know is you have to be able to get the jack pad pretty high to get the wheels off the ground. The jack that came with the car is an accident waiting to happen. I do not trust it. Last edited by maui44; 08-23-2012 at 09:08 PM.. Reason: Spelling |

if all your doing is changing a flat tire. nothing is better than the jack that came with the car...
there are alot of opinions for jacks in the garage. i use an Arcan. It has ALOT of great reviews and has features only available on much more expensive jacks. its heavy duty, low profile and jacks very high. cant beat the $160 price. http://www.northerntool.com/shop/tools/product_200345429_200345429

Now in 993 land ...

Note that you can stick the pad in there rotated 90 degrees out. That allows you to use jacks with a smaller head without worrying that it slips. The diameter pad on there is made for large floor jacks. Not what you want to carry in the car.
Also, I agree that the stock jack is fine for changing a tire. G |

Tire rack product
![]() $219 for the floor jack and 2 stands. Another 69.95 for two more stands. Jack weighs 50lb w/ a 2 ton lift capacity. Chris |

even f all you are doing is changing a flat tire a scissors jack will be a LOT safer and better than the jack that came with the car...
the post type jacks are dangerous and will sink into soft ground besides use the search and save a surgery bill note the lack of a wide base on the jack stands above - another safety issue |

Is the Tire Rack jack made in USA? I got a Harbor Freight jack about 20 years ago for about $20 and it still works although I would like more lift capacity. I was also searching for ramps that work like a jack where you can drive up and then jack the car up.
