Who Sells Floating Rotors?
Who sells 12.75"x1.25" front floating rotors for the 80's 911/930 type hubs?
The more sources the better... thanks. :) |
I specifically need the 78-79 930 fronts, and they are a bear to find. The best I've found is $520 for the pair.
|
Jack: Does that price include the center flange? I understand the flanges are $800 each.
|
Probably not. I use a custom hat, since I have 930 brakes on an early 911.
I guess this would all fit nicely in the "How many other ridiculous prices?" thread. :) |
Jack,
Is that through VCI? Thanks |
Guys,
I know my wrench can get them. He did the brakes on my friend's 78 930 last year. Cubic dollars, but he can get them. The center flanges are $$$. The ones on the 78 had some cracking but he said it was not an issue and put them back in without replacement. Try giving him a call at 919.851.5084, ask for Tolga, tell him Dave sent you. His pricing is always very fair. |
VCI sells aftermarket floating rotors both drilled and/or slotted. For oems you need to contact a dealer or Brembo
Steve Weiner at Rennsport is another good source which I like due to the availability of anodizing on the rotors |
I think that Coleman Racing will make anything you want. I have had good experience with them - they just don't really want to mess around with road applications.
http://www.colemanracing.com/prodex/cat.htp?cat=Brakes%20%28Rotors%29 I put 330mmx30mm rotors on my Audi - I designed and made the ahts and sent Coleman a drawing of the rotor - they arrived in a week, fit perfectly, and were about $125 piece. They offer a floating design. I will probably go the same route when the 930 rotors on my '84 Carera need replacing. |
I bought floating rotors for my car from Hendrick Porsche. $250 each. I got the hats from a place in NJ. $200 or so. Both are nice guy to deal with. I also heard that the corrosion protection is better on OE rotors vs OEM.

can you give info on the hats place in NJ???

Here is the link for Powertech in NJ. I talked with Mike. I think the hats themselves where $200 plus hardware, so the total was around $300 Sorry for the brain fade |
