Okay, this is the type of car where I think that you can get the most bang for your buck:
Without vouching for condition, engine transplants like these tend to give equal performance to the late-model carreras, without the higher price. Installing a 3.2 in a 911SC will only slightly increase the value, because there are probably questions regarding the installation. Another good example is the 1977 911 Carrera that my friend sold with a 3.0L in it for $6000 at Pomona. I didn't have the $$$ to buy it then, but I should have... -Wayne

Cool! What's the weight difference between a 911SC and Carrera?
One would think the SC is a lighter car, so it should be slightly quicker than a Carrera ![]() (doesn't say whether it's also using the later G50 5spd box)

Maybe in the US if it went $10K, your buck packs double the bang of ours, yet I'd reckon it'd go for 3 times that here down-under (with her *old* donk). Why is that? Indulge my ignorance. Have *we* here, pumped up the perceived value of Porsche higher than it deserves? Is that why so many arrive here via the US?
![]() Still, we hope to get it back if we sell .......what a horrible thought! ![]()

Seano, it comes down to our Government charging us an exorbitant amount of luxury car taxes on imported cars.
Amazing isn't it? A late 80's model Carrera (turbo-look) Cab still fetches 75k-85k, whilst in the USA, they're probably around 20k-25k? A '94-'95 993 in the USA is probably around 40-50k? Here we're still paying 110k+ Depressing or what?

Yeah, and don't you guys have some crazy rule about conversion to RHD (at a minimum of A$5k or so on a 911?).
(from New Zealand, where LHD is ok as long as the car is 20yo) PS - I think the Ebay car is pretty cool too...

Gosh, you guys from the lands down under are trying to make me feel sorry for you. I guess I do a bit, as 2/3 of all Porsches were shipped to the US. 2/3 of those were shipped to SoCal!

Shhhh, we are keeping the good bits quiet
![]() ![]() Labour rates are usually NZ$50-60 (ie under US$30) for an independent shop. And I am paying only NZ$750/annum for two 911s and a BMW 2002tii race car. I'm sure I can think of other things (wide open green spaces being one of them).

Must have something to do with the quantities we had imported. If you really want to look at inequity look at the value difference between factory delivered cars and imports especially on a car like the 911, which has a central steering rack.
Anyway I hope things dont change, if there was parity in values where would we get all our cheap second hand parts! Cheers,
