Engine out but need to remove tranny
I already have the engine out of my car, and I already did a search, so my question becomes, is it possible to remove the transmission from the car after the engine is already out? Does it just involve removing the cv bolts, transmission strap, and transmission mounting blots? I dropped the engine using 101 projects and the tech article from pelican but I don't remeber seeing anything about dropping the transmission. When I did a search it only says to drop them together, but from what I gathered from the search only the three steps above are needed to remove the transmission. Just wondering if anyone had done this and if anyone had any tips. Also form another post it was determined that I had a 78 or 79 915 in the car, does anybody know what this transmission weighs?

just like you said, and don't undo the saddle.
trans weighs @ 120 lbs |
don't forget to undo connections for the starter, speedo, tach and shift coupler. small wires don't like stress. Also don't forget to undo the clutch and throttle bell crank. Thats about all that holds it in place.

Don't forget to disconnect the flexible, braided ground strap from the transmission to the car body. There is also a rubberized fabric strap holding the clutch cable off the throttle linkage (on the driver's side of the transmission) that must be removed on some cars. Cheers, Jim
