911 Pre Buy Questions
I'm looking at a 74 911 normal coupe that has a 3.0L from a 78 SC in it and a transaxle from a 76 in it. The car runs and drives.
The seller says the speedo and tach don't work. The transaxle has an electric sender. It comes with an electric speedo. Would this be hard to wire up? I've looked at the 78 wiring diagram but I'm hoping someone has done it. The tach doesn't work either. Would the engine swap cause this or it this a separate problem? If it's from the engine swap would I need to change wiring or just put an SC tach in? Thanks, Jackson |

You have to run 2 wires to the new speedo from the trans.
Open the 14 prong connector of the 3.0 and pull out the black/purple and lay it outside the plastic 14prong unit and replace cover. Run a jumper to the 2 wire connector under the CD box. One of the wires in the connector is the tach wire..not the red one. The install job just wasnt finished completely. Bruce |
