Fuel filter is on!

Any secret to get the bottom 17mm fuel line nut loose while counter holding the filter? I have tried and tried and that sucker isn't moving. It's a 87 3.2 . Any help is much appreciated!

I had to remove it with the line attach and it took a lot to get the nut out on the garage floor.

Do not use heat

Remember, LEFTY LOOSEY.

Use two wrenches one one the body of the filter and one on the line nut. Separate them by enough that you can wrap you hand around both. With your hands, close the gap by holding the wrench on the filter still and moving the line one clockwise (lefty loosey). It will move.

+1 on taking the lines out with the filter and separating them on the garage floor. I have an "82 turbo and getting two wrenches / arms in around the intercooler was brutal. Good thing I took the lines out too because I had to stand on the wrenches with the filter on the floor to break the bottom seal. The filter had either been put on extra snug by the PO or it spent a few years within a hot engine compartment and had become frozen to the fitting. You don't want to strip the fuel line fitting.

good thing you listened, otherwise or maybe more than a filter replacement ! remember this.... fire + gas= not good fire+hot dogs= a little better.

Just changed out my fuel filter and holy crap was it on there tight...I guess the PO didn't want any gas leaks coming from the filter.

It did finally come loose with a fair amount of coercion.

I know what you mean. So far I haven't tried it again so it's been easy! Going to give it a try as soon as my 56 yr old back recoups!
