Brian,

You will be at the Pelican get together this weekend with free issues of the magazine won't you???

Would be a nice way to get the word out and have samples of the magazine to show the community.

Joe

Hmmmm....an article on shinning up your Porsche. A magazine without a proofreader.

Stephan, I was about to flame you for giving the guy a hard time about his spelling on his post until I looked at the cover of the magazine!

I did feel a bit bad about bugging somebody for making a typo in a post, though I consider that to be a mark of carelessness for somebody who professes to be a writer or editor, but when they do it in print too...well, maybe it's an article about how to get aboard a particularly tall Porsche.

I like the cover regardless of spelling, but then again, it is my car on the front cover

Not to pile on, but the 9 Magazine banner on this very page has a typo, too.

Readers Rides, of course, should be Readers' Rides.

Or, maybe, "Readers, Rides" if that is the case.

(Actually, I view the posts in these thread as constructive critique. IMO, it is CRUCIAL for a magazine to be very, very carefully proofed, for a variety of reasons. With typos, the magazine will lack professionalism and it will be difficult to gain credibility.)

Well, you could also include (from the magazine's website) "Summer Time Detailing," which should be either "Summer-Time Detailing" or "Summertime Detailing," and the totally inconsistent capitalization in "A Great Start for 9 Magazine, Great products for your Porsche, Listing of great Porsche Shows."

But they did spell Boxster correctly.

Didn't curiosity kill the cat? I had to look at the typo.

The main web page has the cover with the typo. However, if you click on the sample issue page, the cover looks similiar and without the typo. Perhaps those are just prototypes and the original has been corrected.

Just my two cents.

I've see nworse. I've probably done worse. But as long as you spell "Porsche" right.

May the one who has always spelled correctly cast the first vowel.

Whow, you guise are harsch!

It's rare for a new magazine to come around, and get off the ground. Particularly in a very, very VERY small market like Porsche. The hurdles are tremendous. If you look at the early days of Excellence and 911 & Porsche World, you will see some problems too.

Pelican Parts used to be a small-time operation (okay, we're still small-time, but bigger than when we were smaller-time ). A lot of people gave us some help along the way, and we're doing the same here with 9 Magazine. They aren't paying us for the banner ad at the top.

So, I'd like to metaphorically smack you guys on the back of the head and say chill out. I have no affiliation with 9 Magazine, but I do like to root for the underdog.

I'm sure that constructive critcism is indeed welcome at all times (about 9 Magazine and about Pelican).

-Wayne

Life is harsh!

He should take the critiques to heart. As you point out, it is tough getting a mag off the ground. Its gonna be a lot tougher if the mag is filled with typos, including on the cover. If I'm a potential advertiser, I hesitate to pay up front for a year's worth of ads in a new magazine whose cover talks about "shinning" your Porsche.
