Need a PPI in Queens...anyone know a shop or mechanic I can bring the car to?

Hi all,

I'm gonna be checking out another car in Queens, NY. I need to get a pre-purchase inspection, but I'm not too familiar with any mechanics there.

Anyhow, anyone's advice or leads as to a wrench that could do the PPI in queens would be greatly appreciated. I know what basics to look for, but I'd like someone to put the car on a lift and check out the guts.

thanks so much,

I'm in Queens! Call Sonny at SM Motorsport and tell him I sent you. He's right over the Queens/Nassau border. 516-775-8655

When I had contacted the PCA for a reccommendation before I bought my car I was pointed towards SM Motorsports in New Hyde Park (516) 775-8655. It's right on the Queens border. Although I didn't use him for the PPI, I have used them for another repair and was pleased with the service. Prices are reasonable and they seem to know what they're doing. Mention John Mingst(Metro PCA committee tech chair) referred you- that's what he told me. Good luck. By the way, did we caravan to Hershey together?

Wow that's pretty coincidental!

Try Luis at Best Sports Cars III on Braddock in Queens Village718-740-2121. He specializes in Foregn cars and will give you an informed opinion. Does't specialize in P-car and will not attempt to take you to school either. Tell him I sent you. (75 silver 911)

If proximity is what you want talk to Mark Tashjian at Formula Motorsports- he's in LIC. Check the www.metronypca.org. board for list of mechs

Hey fellas,

thanks for the quick responses. I'll give Sonny and the others a call. Mike, I did caravan to hershey with you guys!! What a blast. I tagged along with Marc's group, were you in that? my car is pictured on the left.

Any further feedback or suggestions will be greatly appreciated. I'm actually going with my brother to check out a 944S. He came to the track, and within seconds, his jaw dropped and the words "I've got to get a car" came babbling out of his mouth. I'm sure you have all seen the reaction I'm talking about.

With that , he sold his waverunner (toy) and we're now on the prowl for a 944 that fits his price range (6-7K)

thanks again,

Good to see all the P-Car people in NYC! Sometimes I think it is all new (leased) boxsters and old park-on-the-street beaters.

I too was in Marc's caravan. We have all got to get together this summer for a proper drive up-state.

Yes, I was in the group with Marc. Red 911 Turbo. My friend Vito was the guy with the 944 Turbo that got nailed for his radar detector "obstructing his view". I look forward to more jaunts like that one.
