Question 2.7L CIS problems

O.K
So I have been busy.

I replaced the following:

Fuel filter;
fuel accumulator;
spark plugs;
ingition leads;
GT40R coil;
1.6ohm resistor;
injector seals (after cleaning the injectors);
reconditioned alternator;
blinker relay.

So now my car starts and runs but its still a bit sick.
The alternator is still not charging properly.
The idle is irregular and fluctuates (particularly when changing gears in the sporto, it changes from 2500 to 800 at times (very annoying).
The light are dim and sometimes the headlight swith off by themselfs and the indicators light up (not flash).

Im lost and confused . Please help.

P.S when cleaning the injectors i notices two of them were covered in oil. also all the spark plugs where Black !!!

Sounds like a possession! Bust out the Bible!...Smile.

What were your problems before you did all the work? Did the symptoms suddenly appear?

First things first, do you have a multimeter to check the battery/charge while the car idles? I haven't had to trouble shoot the alternator yet (please, please, don't let it happen) so I can't give you any pointers on that task, but it sure sounds like the alternator should be your first point of attack.

Same problems as before, exept it starts a bit easier now (still abit hard when warm).

When I first started it it was charging at 13.5 volts.

later on that evening, After I turned the lights on it droped to 12V.

I tried it later with the lights off and it was 11.5 V

Do you have a battery charger, can you charge the battery and will it hold a charge? Do you have a load tester for the battery or another good battery for temporary use? Then check the charge with a "fresh" battery. If you drain the battery it is the alternator, but don't discount a bad ground or connection.

Good luck.

I bought a brand new heavy duty battery and had the alternator rebuilt with new dioides bacause I was having the same problem before.

Could it be a short or problem with the wiring causing this problem !
I have booked an auto electrician to check it out but I don't want to pay a lot more for what may be a small problem !
