BK extinguisher bracket mounting
I just got one of these for my SC with non-power seats. I can't figure out how it goes. If I mount it between the seat and the mounting railsin the front, it sticks out from the seat by 8 inches. Also, the seat slide lever prevents the seat from sitting properly on the mounting rails. What am I doing wrong???? Do I need to mount it to the rear bolts? I thought it was a bolt- in, but I am apparently too dumb.
Please help! Thanks, Magilla |
I also bought one for my '80 SC and ended up returning it because of the same reasons you mention. It was a nice piece, but I just didn't get it. Ended up strapping my extinguisher to my BK harness bar.

Someone emailed me privately about this, and here is their answer. It worked perfectly, so now my bracket is mounted and I am happy:
"First remove the seats. You then need to remove the sliding rails from the bottom of the seats. The BK mount is then positioned between the seat bottom and the rails that you removed earlier. There should be some spaceer plates included in the kit. These mount at the rear bolts to make up for the thickness of the actual mount . Mounting it this way allows for the bracket to slide back and forth with the seats." I'm not sure if he wants to be recognized or not, so I will leave his name out for now, anyway. Thanks Magilla |
Here’s a pic of my f.e. mount. Magilla is right; the mount should go in between the seat and the sliding rails not between the sliding rails and the cars’ stationary brackets. Whenever you move the seat, the f.e. mount moves with the seat. Hope this helps......
