Put this under the wrong forum so here it is again...

HELP!!! Need Porsche shop in North Las Vegas (NV) Area Monday (Sept 10) morning...
Well guys, I need a shop in the North Las Vegas (NV) area early Monday morning (Sept 10) for a small brake problem - probably 1 hour. If anybody here has a shop or is personal friends with someone at a shop and can get me set up for early Monday morning it would be much appreciated. I drove from San Francisco yesterday and was supposed to drive to Denver today but I will have to wait.

Here's the story - I lost my brakes from San Francisco to Las Vegas about 30 miles west of Barstow. On Friday a reputable Northern CA shop (that I have been going to for the last nine years) replaced the brake fluid and the guy forgot to torque down the nut on the front left caliper. Luckily (this type of thing will make you religious) I was coasting to stop at a light in the tiny town of Boron when my foot went right to the floor. The emergency brake was OK and I got into a gas station and parked in the shade as it was damn hot yesterday. I saw the fluid coming out from that caliper and got the wheel off and got everything tightened up. Rinsed everything really well as there was ATE blue all over the wheel well and inner side of the wheel and NEW Tire (bummer, that is for sure).

Then I got some STP DOT3 at the Chevron in Boron (the lady was quite helpful and called around to the local places to see if anybody had ATE Blue - no luck) and topped up the fluid level. I put quite a bit into the reservoir - nearly a full bottle so that was a little scary.

The system is full of bubbles and I had some brakes then with pumping. Probably I should have recruited the nice Chevron lady to pump the brakes for bleeding but I wasn't thinking straight at that point.

I drove the remaining 130 or so miles to my cousin's house in North Las Vegas like I was in an ice storm and made it OK with no problems. When you are driving like that but everybody else is driving fast it is SCARY!!!

I am OK and the car is OK - let's hope the shop who forgot to tighten this down will work with me and pay for the re-refill of Blue.

Please PM me if you or someone you know is in the North Las Vegas area and can squeeze me in for a 1-hour brake system flush / inspection first thing Monday morning.

Thanks!

David
