Can these wheels work?

Has anyone successfully used wheels like these on a 996? They are 16", 6" wide with 50mm offset in the front, 7" wide with 40 mm offset in the back. Could they work with spacers, maybe different lug nuts?

Rims

They have been used on several 914's
I have also looked at a set on a 944. I have found anything that fits my 944 will fit my 911 Targa with no issues. Thats not mine above but its evil twin.

944's up to and including 86 (first year of both the Series 2 interior and the 951, aka turbo) used the same offsets as pre-ABS (964) 911's.

944's 87 and later had ABS - and use the same offsets as 964's, 933's, 986's, 996's, etc. etc.

928's also changed, and for the same reason, but I don't know when.

Offset for ABS also affected rotors - an '86 951 rotor can be made to fit a 911, but 87-up are completely wrong.

To the OP, those are late offset wheels - they can be used on early 911's, with hubcentric spacers and longer wheel studs. I've heard it's not generally considered the best idea to use the adapters that bolt to the hub and have their own studs to mount the wheel to.

Actually, the 86 944 Turbo used 23mm offset wheels, same as 911s through 89 (but not the 964) which is the one year only 7&8X16 Fuchs were made & the 23mm offset Phone dials. All 944s switched to high offset rims for the 87 model year til the end of the series. The Boxster 16" rims should fit the 996, but I would test fit 1st to make sure they clear the brakes. I assume that this is for a winter tire fitment.

I stand (well, sit) corrected. I know 951 7's or 8's will 911's (and 8's on the front will clear some big brakes - which is the hot setup with 930 9's on the rear).

LOL - obviously a coffee deficit, I missed it was a 996 - thought this was the air-cooled forum?

Fredster:

You might want to post your question in the 996 section.

Cheers,

Paul.
