964 Distributor Drive Belt

How long should it take a Porsche Tech to install this belt?

I am asking only because I live 100 miles from Dealer and will have to wait or make
other arrangements.

Thanks

Ask the dealer you are taking it how long it will take. How long it "should" take means little. If the dealer doesn't have a tech that knows how do it it, it will take longer.

I would think you would be better off going to an independent shop for this. There is a pin that you need along with the belt:

930-602-134-00 Porsche Toothed Belt (964 distributor)
930-602-922-00 Porsche Distributor Gear Pin

The belt is an aftermarket part now. The pin is still a Porsche part.

There used to be a guy in Atlanta that does this on the side. Look at this thread.

Distributor Belt Replacement - HOWTO?

You can also do it yourself. Just follow the instructions here: Dual Distributor Belt Replacement

i read that article and the part about disassembling the belt driven side is not necessary. you tap the locating dowels out of the way and separate the housings a bit, then the belt can be slipped in. takes about an hour and a half if you know what you're doing. a dealer tech probably doesn't.
