MFI pump identification help needed

I have an unusual MFI pump, has a RS part # with a Mag not an aluminum body. This was purchased as a spare for a 73 RS from a Porsche dealership circa 1995. The body has 4 70 casting date on it. I am getting a lot of opinions from Porsche did make a few Mg bodied pumps for RS's to it's a fake. I have part on ebay and want to make sure it's properly represented.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1346847548.jpg

Thanks for the help.

Here is some reading. Note the 2nd to last link is for a 69S but has the same look as your RS pump.
Pretty certain the 019 is for the RS and did find one pic with the case material clearly differentiated. (see last link)

Your correct that it's a early 70's 2.2 mag pump and regulator. It can't have a #60 RS space cam either because the early, 2.0 to 2.2 pumps used the narrow space cam with different flyweights. The pump has been re tagged an 019 # which is odd to me. It would be very interesting to see what space cam is inside? V-94? That would fit. #46 or 45 is what should be inside.
Can you read the other ID plate numbers? That would identify the pump & regulators beginning before any modifications, if any were made.

I just located the pump on e-bay. Looking at the ID tag's, pump 60/120 R 3 Y and the regulator EP/RLA 1/51 R would indicate a 2.7RS 019 pump. Although the Bosch ID tags on the pump do not look like any of the original Bosch ID tags I have seen. I think John posted a picture in the other thread of his 019 ID tag. Also just not sure how they fitted a #60 space cam inside. The rear cover of all the early pumps, 2.0 to 2.2 are 31.50mm deep and the 2.4 to 2.7Rs are 35.75mm deep to account for the different flyweights and wider space cam.

If he opened it up and photographed it could you tell what cam it had?

If you remove the cover you can see the Space Cam Follower Lever. It rests on the space cam. You can tell the difference between the early 2.2 and the later 2.4 - 2.7 buy looking for the type of tip the Follower Lever has. The early ones had a ball style tip and the later 2.4 - 2.7 had the narrow pointed style tip. Photos below. To ID the space cam, you can use a small dental type mirror and look at the right side of the space cam to see the 2 digit number stamped on the side of the space cam.

All,

Thanks for taking the time to reply to thread. I have same question posted on early S site and here in info I have gathered- the very early RS pumps were built in a Mg housing. The particular pump has a build date of March 71 and casting date of 4 70 so that seems consistent. Mark I sent you an email directly. I'll be happy to box this up and ship to your shop for inspection.

Received the pump from Phil and opened it up. What I found was a #46 space cam (2.2S) along with the early flyweights as should be. The regulator is an EP/RLA 1/28R inside & out except for the ID plate. The pump section has the early plungers #030 (left side) and #004 (right side) as all the early 2.0 to 2.2 pumps. The ID plate should be PED 6 KL 60/120 R2 for a 2.2S. The MFI pump is NOS inside and out.
