Reverse light / switch

Is there anyway to replace the reverse light switch without draining the transmission fluid? I might be able to place a bolt in the hole while I work on fixing the switch?

Dave, I just went to the garage and looked at the location of the switch on my car (don't know if it's the same as yours?). It looks like the switch may be a little bit lower than the fill plug. Perhaps you can jack up the right side of the car only and this would be enough to keep the gear oil from spilling too much if at all.

Hi Dave, you could drive the front of the car up on ramps, emergency brake, blocks under the wheels etc, and see if that helps. I've got the same job coming up but will treat it as a good excuse to renew the Swepco 201 oil. I'll need a larger ring spanner than any in my set to get the reversing light switch out. Would you post back what size it is after you do the job so I can buy the correct wrench in advance. Thanks, Bill '79SC

NO PROBLEM dumping oil. The pin under switch ,if removed, has to be returned in same direction as removal in a 915........Ron
