Question Spring plate camber bolt question

The bolts for the toe adjustments are no mistery, but, how does the camber bolt actually adjust the camber? I checked the tech. articles and don't understand how it works. With the wheel off and the trailing arm hanging free, how does this bolt adjustment change the camber? Hmmm? Thanks anyone.

I had mine apart this weekend. And I was thinking the same thing.
Best I can figure. The surface of the trailing arm ( slight slope ) is not a perfect 90 match to the spring plate. So when you rotate the eccentric. You change the angle.

Hopefully someone will jump in with a more scientific explanation.

It has to do with the angle of axil to the pivot point of the arm. The camber adjustment twists the arm using more or less of this angle to increase or decrease the camber. It also changes the toe so you need to check the toe after you set the camber. Does this make any sense?

I believe tow-in and camber and castor are adjusted at the same time. Think about it, the excentric is there for the technician to adjust the forward to back movement(notice the allen hole for this). First they loosen the two bolts then they turn the excentric adjustment after loosening its bolt. This wheel bears on the aluminum arm to adjust the fore and aft motion.

There are two eccentric bolts one twists the arm (camber) and one moves it fore and aft (toe).

Question

Thanks for the replies. I only need to know about camber, not toe. Still not clear how turning the camber bolt affects the camber angle. How does it twist the spring plate to change camber? Can anyone describe how the mechanism/design works?

By turning the eccentric bolt your not twisting the spring plate your twisting the trailing arm with respect to the spring plate. The axil is attached to the trailing arm and since your twisting it in relation to the spring plate you can angle the axil up or down(up = more camber, down = less camber).
