Speedo working Odometer dead any help??

Was driving today filled up gas and reset trip odometer, took off from service station and odometer and trip odo stopped working. Speedometer is working fine but mileage and trip have stopped functioning. It is in an 81 SC coupe. never had an issue with this until today. Any suggestions??

Thanks,
Dave

Same happened to me. I read all the threads here on Pelican and came to the conclusion that I will have North Hollywood Spedometer do the repair. It is about $125.-

Speedo

Poorwolf is right.

One of the most common things w/Porsche soeedo.

They can re-calibrate it when fixing the gear if needed.

I took mine apart to attempt the repair, didnt have the results I wanted and ended up sending it to North Hollywood Speedo, was like 160 (only about 3-4 months ago price) with the return shipping, works like a champ, now I dont reset that trip odometer unless I am stopped, since the seemed like what made it break in the first place. It also took about two weeks for them to turn it around.

Yep. Same thing just happened in my '81 SC. I probably caused it by resetting the trip odometer while rolling out of a gas station. I know it can be fixed locally, but I will send it to North Hollywood so it can also be recalibrated.

I just had my '89 Carrera odo done by Palo Alto Speedo. Hartmut said that it makes no difference if you are rolling or stopped. It is just a weak gear.
