Oil,Oil, Oil Film Everywhere...1975 911S

I am going to start taking photos of my 1975 911S yard find as I move ahead, but not with this post as this was getting pretty dirty.

The car had a rebuilt engine, new clutch, etc. and was parked under a tree near Pomona California for 20 years when they guy had kids...

Anyway, the entire engine shroud (green) had oil all over it, so did everything else in the engine bay. I decided to pull the CIS set-up (needs to be gone through from sitting), and pulled the shroud. There is a thick film of 'newish' oil (well, new for sitting) all over everything including under the shroud, looking like it originated in the engine compartment somewhere and was pulled into the engine by the fan, with this 'breather' type oil mist coating everything like a thick film.

The breather hose, the base gasket of the breather, the thermostat o-rings all look dry as a bone. I am concerned that an oil cooler could do this, but could a disconnected oil breather hose off the oil tank spray this film of oil everywhere?

I have never seen the car run, so I cannot assess where it may be coming from. I am baffled but leaning toward the breather hose that goes off the oil tank to the air box.

I am trying to figure out if I should pull the oil cooler for good measure before the CIS goes back on, but if it is as simple as having a new hose connected from the oil tank and having the correct amount of oil....

Any help would be appreciated.

Yes, if the vent hose from the oil tank is off oil mist from the tank can do that.
