I installed the E code Hella H-4 which are a drop in replacement for the sealed beams. Even with the standard wattage (55/65) bulbs, the improvement is dramatic.

or just about any local FLAPS.

I have those in my car. I think they do a fine job in comparison to some of the newer cars I've driven on the same roads.

Better light than the stock lamps, better beam pattern (e-code), bulbs are cheap.

As others have said, relay.

I installed a pair of CIBIE headlights with the relay and 80/100 bulbs - a great difference indeed! I also noticed the dash lights slightly brighter - wondering taking a load off the headlight switch may have allowed more juice to the instruments??
