AC Fan Motor
MY AC Fan motor is howling, can't last much longer (911 624 013M).
Fan assembly looks easy to get to (if a bit tight wedged in next to the battery, front bulkhead, etc). The procedure seems to be remove the four screws holding the assembly in, remove the assembly, unclip the two halfs, then "swap the motor". It's never this easy, is there any gotcha's I should be aware of before trying to change the motor this weekend? Thanks |

It is a tight fit, but you should be able to wiggle it loose after you remove the screws - I don't recall if there are just 4. 1 or 2 may not be visible at first glance.
If it is squealing now, you should probably disconnect the fan until you do replace it, as there has been more than one occurence of a car fire caused by these motors stalling and burning up.
