Koni paint color

What color orange does Koni use? Does anyone have a cross reference? I'd like to put a fresh coat on my shocks before reinstalling them. I tried Paint Scratch.com and you need a code.

I found "PLASTI-KOTE FAST DRY ENGINE ENAMEL #200 CHEVROLET ORANGE" to be a pretty close match.

Porsche Crest

The best match I found when I refinished my front struts was Engine Color by Krylon in Chevrolet Orange, same as my Dad's old '57 283 Four-Barrel was painted!

Yep. Chevrolet engine block Orange. Close enough to fool the most discriminating of concours judges...

Thanks genltlemen. I got some Chevy orange in a spray can and unloaded the contents into a spray gun along with a little red and a touch of brown. Perfect.

Now I need to know if just the shock housing and dust cover was painted on the original car or if the steering arm and casting was painted as well. In other words, was it two-tone or all orange? The suspension I bought had all been painted black. Not that I'm building a concours race car, but I try to do things right.

Milt,

Strut is all Koni orange ... including the steering arm and the eyelets that the calipers bolt to! Only the stub axle from the grease seal location outwards is left bare.

BRAVO ... on refinishing your struts properly!

Well gee..., thanks for the cudos. Not often a guy gets a compliment in the Porsche community when he owns a 914.

And BTW, I know this was disscussed at length a couple of weeks ago, but as a Boxster driver I wink my lights at other Pcars or thumbs up if they are going the same direction along side.

So there is at least one guy around with even with TWO loser cars (according to some) that trys to be right.

Happy Motoring and thanks again.
