Emblem

They are originally black and over time fade to gray.

Really ? ok thanks for the answer !! How do you know that ? Really Thanks

Because on my first picture the emblem is grey and look new

Yes they fade to the gray/silver color. Targa script on the SS roll bar cover do the same.

they were available in silver or black from the factory so it depends on what came on the car. they used the black on light colors and silver on dark colors, most of the time. On black, both look good

My 82 had a silver/gray emblem on a black grill, Don't know how a black emblem would ever show on a black grill. Car is Swartzmetallic black. I know it was always silver/gray as I rescued a sleeping garage queen.

I see only one part number for the 911 SC logo in the PET. Given the detail they put into seat and interior color differentiation I would want to believe they would have split the two colors into different part numbers.

That said, I have not owned my car since new and did not see a color change over time (was silver when I got it in 1996 - guards red darker car). My base of knowledge is only what I read in the forums so good job, iiXii pushing the issue to arrive at certainty. Based on what James says it's worth a little more research.

Hello,

thanks for your answer. I think this question will rest without clear answer...

I know there is no 2 code on the PET and the USA model have the same number.

My red 82sc had silver and that plays into earlier post. The targa script was black:confused:

Catalogs reference one color. PET has one part number. Pictures are not conclusive enough to make a unilateral statement.

Please save us from our indecision.

EDIT: Oops - I see you posted above. You are trying to save us.

I have never seen one half faded. It's one way or the other.

Been debated here many times before...

Only available Black...

Just like much of the other black anodized aluminum trim On the car, the sun fades it first to purple, then it gets down to the base silver aluminum.

For those who don't believe the 'fading' theory, remove your SC script and check out the back side of it. Betcha it is black anodized. ;-)

Don't want to ruffle feathers but I have seen and detailed a lot of these cars. I often remove the rear script when polishing the engine lid. I refinish the badges with Wurth Satin Black for customers.

Regards, Cooper

Remove the emblem. Look at the backside (where the sun never shines).

That's the original color.

I've only seen black ones.

ok cool, mine is 30+ years old and still vivid black and it was a Miami car.

fiminod 09-15-2012 05:32 PM

Mathes your door handles....black handles...black script...chrome handles...brushed script...

iiXii 09-18-2012 01:36 AM

Hello,

it's seems that US models have gray and european models have black...
