Post non original paint color

Does the value of a 911 decrease if it has been re painted a color that is not original? If so how much?
I am talking about a 69-73-911 T coupe.

I've been told that a repaint reduces value..a repaint, period. But you know, life is short. An early 911T? It's your car. You see a non "owiginal" color you like? Goferit! I've always wondered what an early 911 would look like in '70's mopar "russet sunfire metallic".

pwd72s is full of beans. To say the least.
He's been told that a repaint reduces value.

pwd72s, do you believe that everything you've been told?

You probably have original paint on your car. You're so special.

No, a repaint if done right will not reduce the cars value. But, it has to be painted the original colour.

Gosh, I've never seen a 250 Testarossa's value diminished because it was repainted.

I'd pay more for an original paint car over a newly painted car even with a few small imperfections. Unless before painting there was thorough documentation with lots of detailed pictures and receipts for work that was done prior to painting.

Paint can hide a nightmare even if it looks very good.

I don't think your car is that rare so if it needs a paint do it in your favorite colour. But do it right. Remove windows, trim, maybe even interior.

I'd pay more also. When I said, "done right" Thay's what I meant.

I seem to forget that some people would paint a car to hide defects.

Hey "two oh" why don't you grow up 4 whole posts and you ragging on members.

My 73t is painted dodge prowler yellow. why? because i like it. period.

Repainted car worth less, i can believe it. after all you can restoe a car many times but its only original once. But its your car do what you want, after all you should enjoy it.

The question was asked, "if the value of a Porsche is reduced by repainting it?". The answer given is correct according to the experts but that doesn't mean you can't find a buyer who doesn't care if your car has been repainted. Two-oh, what's your problem? This is a friendly board where people come for technical and not so technical advice and opinions. No need to be hostile to other long-time posters and members of this community. Paint your car the color you want and enjoy it. But at resale time IT MIGHT be worth less to SOME prospective buyers who are interested in originallity.

Kumma, Viper Yellow, Sounds interesting. Post a pic. I'd like to see it. Also what kind of paint was used. Did you paint it or did you have it done by a paint shop? Was colour sanding required?
