Replacing the Rubber
 

I was told if car still for a while, let's say a couple of years, all the rubber items in the car should be replace. Is that true or recommended and how much would it cost for an SC or Carrera?

Don't start replacing things unless necessary. Yes, seals can dry out from prolonged periods without the engine being used. However 2 years isn't a magic number. My car sat for 2.5 years while it was being restored and other than some smoke after first starting it has run like a champ every day since.

That's a very generic statement and definitely not true. You should go into more detail in what you believe will need replacement and how long the car actually sat and how it sat (i.e. outside in the AZ desert, or in a climate controlled garage?)

2 years? The rubber on my 50k mile 79 SC is still original and pliable with no cracks. Feels like new. But my car was always garaged under a blanked in Southern California and primarily driven there. I think the longevity of rubber pieces greatly depends on the temperatures they are exposed to, and for how long.
