Paint checking-how to minimize or fix?

My rear qtr panel is checking. How can I minimize, hide, fix it aside from a repaint? Thanks

Not a lot you can do. Basically the paint has failed. You might be able to color sand and polish the area, if the checks are not very deep.

Can you give me more details please? How's the beast looking Thom. Haven't seen recent pics? What color are you painting it?

Here's my writeup on color sanding - some day I'll add pix. http://vintagebus.com/howto/color-sanding.html

I'm still doing little body work stuff here and there - I haven't sucked up the courage yet to pull the top and windshield and get serious. I have a track day on the 26th and another on the 7th and I'm hesitant to get it disassembled too far for fear of not having it assembled in time. I guess if it came down to it I could throw the top back on for the day, then take it out again when I got back.
