brake hose question
So I was bleeding the brakes on my 81 SC using my Motive pressure bleeder and I cannot get the bleeder to hold pressure (about 10 PSI on the gauge).
I have pinched off the drain hose on the master cylinder reservoir, but brake fluid is seeping thru ! Just a little bit. I presume this drain hose is "original" to the car, and would like to replace it. However I did not see it available from our host, and there's no simple match at the local auto parts store. Do I go to a german car dealer ? Genuine Porsche ? Suggestions? thanks for any info !

Are you referring to the overflow hose near the master cylinder cap?
I used a small vacuum fitting to cap that, might have used a ziptie to cinch it down. The hose is not under pressure normally, so I wouldn't worry about it. If you absolutely positively want a new hose, it sure looks a lot like MBZ diesel fuel line. Take the overflow hose to a good import car parts store, they can match it up. |

Kyle, thanks, I have been thinking the same thing - just some plastic hose to plug it. Understand it is not normally under pressure.
Appreciate your help !

Don't block it off all the time. It needs to vent so fluid can move into and out of the caliper, especially into the caliper as the pads wear. You don't want to create a vacuum in the reservoir. You should just replace the hose with something new that matches. If you track the car, then you might want to have it drain into a small overflow bottle you tie down in the trunk. It happens to drain in front of the LF wheel and brake fluid is slippery, especially in a right hand corner!!!

yes, of course - block it off just for pressure bleeding. But thanks for the reminder, Tony !
