Where is the second A/C inlet located?

Since A/C discussions tend to get so lively, thought I'd start a new one. :-)

When I had my A/C evaporator out last weekend for my steering rack work, I noticed there is a second air intake at the bottom (in addition to the normal passenger footwell one). This goes to a round hole in about the middle of the smugglers box, but doesn't seem to come out anywhere in the car interior.

I put a flashlight into this hole in the chassis, but didn't see light coming out anywhere, it almost seemed like it went thru the shifter tunnel?

Just curious,

Just to the right of the gas pedal (US).

Thanks for the responses, that would make sense... must be a convoluted path, I didn't see any light (or it wasn't dark enough during my test).

Would this be the drain hole that comes out the bottom of the car ?

No. Hole OP is talking about is much larger. Evap box has the drain tube you mention then two air inlets on the bottom. One is trapezoid that connects behind passenger footboard. Second is round and connects at front of tunnel. Tough to see round hole from inside car. Tunnel is open to driver's side at the fire wall and there is an oval access area on top of tunnel ahead of console.

In early cars the rear passenger tunnel grill would allow air to be drawn in from the rear of the car into the ac
