Check your CSV......

I don't know any electrical plug with yellow wire from the wiring diagram except the one that goes to CSV. Take a look and keep us posted.

Tony - the fat yellow wire is not on that plug. The pictures are a little deceiving.

Double checked my 81. The wire connector is gray on the WUR.

The connector to the cold start valve is bluish and the connector to the back of the air flow sensor is greenish.

This pic may be the one you need.

Bob,

You are correct again!!!! The plug in question and the yellow wire are not related at all. When I first looked at the picture, the first thing that caught my attention was the 'yellow' wire. I stand corrected. Thanks.

It would help to know the year but it may be for the cold start injector.

First what year is your car? In general I don't recall a "Green" plug, so someone may have replaced the connector at some point. I'd recommend pulling back the rubber boot and identifying the actual wire color codes, then comparing it to the wiring diagram. And yes that photo is deceiving, it looks like someone put an EFI plug on the heater blower wiring.

There are a total of , I think 5 of those type connectors on later SC's. Air slide (between cyl 5 &6 intake), Safety switch (on the sensor plate assembly), Frequency valve (in line on the fuel return line), Warm-up regulator, and cold start injector. See where it seems to fit to, the safety sw has brown wires, the cold start yellow.

I have a feeling it's from the safety switch. This is to shut off the fuel pump in the event of a roll-over. Simple test, ignition on, car not running, does the fuel pun run? The FP should only run in this condition if you lift the sensor plate.

Still check the safety switch on the rear of the sensor plate housing. You can look with a mirror or feel around back. If it's NG you'll hook it up and the car won't start, disconnect it and the car will start.

Check the picture I posted of my 81. The plug shell is greenish on the safety switch. It is not going to make it to the AAR and kj9438 confirmed it does not make it to the WUR. Freq valve is black and cold start is blue.

kj,

Could you check the color of the wires connected to this 'green' electrical plug? Slide the rubber boot insulation and you'll see the color of the 2 wires connected to the plug. These are the five (5) electrical square plugs in the engine wire harness:

WUR........red/white and brown wires.
AAR.........red/white and brown wires.
CSV.........yellow and red/black wires.
AFS.........black/brown and brown wires
FV...........black/red and black/red wires.

Keep us posted.

I *think* that is the sensor plate contact plug. Does the fuel pump run with the key in the on position? It's not supposed to but will if it will if the sensor pate is unplugged.
