M&K 1 in 1 out - How loud? Need advice pls
 

Dear Pelicans,

So after much consideration I am settling on an M&K 1 in 1 out sport muffler to go on my current stock 86 Carrera. I am going to compliment it with a chip and intake, however I dont want the car to be too loud during normal driving. I plan to do some long scenic trips and one reason I have decided not to go the 2 to 2 or 1 to 2 is because of the dreaded drone.

I want to enjoy the sounds and wonders of this iconic aircooled porsche with a little more kick than the OEM set up has to offer, but at the same time I dont want the whole world to stare at me in traffic or during light cruising and still be able to get out after a nice drive and not have my hearing impaired!

Any help or experience you can share with the M&K 1 in 1 out would be appreciated. Incidentally I have the cat deleted.

Barry, the sound level will depend on what you replaced the cat with.
Most quiet is the OEM cat followed by the pre-muffler and lastly the cat bypass pipe which has no muffling at all. If your cat was replaced with a bypass you have 2 more quiet options available.

The 1 in 1 out with the Cat is not much louder then stock and much lighter. It doesn't have a musical note like some others. Th sound is a bit like shaking kitty litter at idle. The reason I like it is simply the very light weight and it isn't loud enough to attract attention.

I love it. It mellowed out a bit after driven. My videos below are with a euro bypass, 1/1 M&K and SW chip.
