Upholstery...

I am beginning to look at restoring my interior. I want to go either original or at the very least original look (German leather or vinyl...etc.). Any recommendations out there besides Autos International, World Upholstery and Trim, and Heritage Upholstery and Trim. I am located in CT and would prefer somebody that has access to O.E. seat cloth as well. Let me know your thoughts.

I have used Classic 9 upholstery (former 928 leather) and Autbahn Interiors. I would recommend AI as communications and time line were much better! Overall Classic9 was custom alcantara and 95% nice. He just blundered one item on quality control and took quite a bit longer for finished product after payment up front. Now saying that he certainly has done a few high profile projects. Garcia at AI was fast to respond, realistic on time line, and dead on quote. I have nothing but praise for the quality I received.

This says virtually nothing for either company, but is another option and some personal experience to help in your decision.

YES I had a brain fart. That is what I get for reading forums at work. I saw AI and connected them in my head.

I meant Autobahn Interiors AI, Tony Garcia in my above post. Sometimes dementia is setting in very early. The compliments were meant to be towards him. Thanks RSTarga for not calling me out, though you should have LOL. I"m going to edit my above post to not confuse others in future.

Autos International is very good and helpful. They sent me a complete carpet and then I chose to delete my rear seat. They then sent me some bulk carpet that I cut to my dimensions. If you are starting I would recommend getting info from AI. I am now trying to replace the vinyl cover on the dash around the gages. IF you have any experience removing interior dash panels I am interested.

cjannelli ::::
Man,..that looks nice. Is that Linen?

I'm looking to get my interior redone while she's getting fresh paint. I've an '89 Silver Anniversary Edition that looks similar to yours, aside from the black piping on the seats (assuming that's leather). I'm real keen on ensuring the same factory style stitching, for sure.
Good to hear he has access to real German sourced materials.

I'm looking forward to calling him and discussing my desires.

Again,..that looks SO clean!

BEST!

Doyle

Did you redo EVERYTHING inside?

BEST!

Doyle

Thank you for all of your replies. Getting back to my original question though, I could buy some time by swapping the two seat back covers. Is this possible? Thanks again.

Hey Ryan, How'd you make out with the radio? Still want to buy mine? Not working, but all there. I had my entire upholstery done by a local woman who was very reasonable. Front seats, door panels, rear panels, targa bar, real package shelf all for $1100.00. Done in vinyl. Leather would have been another grand.

Chris, your interior looks great and the same linin color as mine short of the arm rests as mine are linin too. Is yours leather or vinyl? My carpet is white too but planning on changing this to either black or gray as the original is too hard to keep clean.
