It's a somewhat bizarre hoax that's been doing the rounds for at least a couple of years. Maybe started by a Nigerian?

If he or she is trying to say that slope-nose car pictured is a surviving original 901 prototype, they ought to get it to Howard Freeman in Mississippi (http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-911-technical-forum/530206-found-30-years-later.html) quick and have him return it to spec.

I guess you could count me among the "philosophical" inquirers (as he put it). What if I blew $16M on a scam? Hmmm... Inquiring minds want to know.

That's been on there for years. Completely bogus IMHO.

I don't think it is a scam. I think the seller is merely psychotic. Poor guy...

After examining the concept of trying to make sense of something the came from someone who is completely irrational I did the only thing that made sense.

I grabbed a beer and moved on!

As a consolation , here is a genuine rusty prototype story that has played out quite well...and the final chapters remain to be written.
