Old Zenith Carb for Teaching Engineering Fluid Mechanics

Hi guys,

Some of you may know me from "Saving the Rat". Saving the "Rat" - Restoring a 69T

I am an engineering professor at Florida Gulf Coast University and I teach fluid mechanics. Sitting in my office today I thought it would be really cool idea to teach the Venturi principle and flow measurement using an old Zenith carb. Using the PET and the actual carb in class would really help the students grasp the principle. We could actually do some calculations on how much air goes through a 911 engine at various RPMS and figure out required fuel inputs etc. I think it would be a cool way to bring real world applications into the classroom. Would anybody be willing to donate an old Zenith (can be siezed or cracked) and a few venturis to our engineering department? I would be willing to pay for shipping!

Cheers,
Kristoph

How about a Weber instead? It would be good to look at the dynamics of emulsion tube fuel delivery as a function of secondary venturi vacuum as well. I and the Weber-ized world would be grateful!

Give me a ring to discuss.

Hi Paul,

I think that would be a really sweet project. Sadly, I think it would be more on the masters level and currently we only have an undergraduate program. Maybe we can still do something to examine secondary Venturi vacuum. I will give you a call sometime soon to discuss.

Cheers,
Kristoph

Anyone out there willing to donate a broken Zenith carb to our engineering department at FGCU?
