Unhappy cylinder exhaust head studs...

...brought home a 1986 930 a few weeks ago, and aside from it being an utterly and entirely different animal than my '88 carrera, i have been tracking down an oil leak, as well as trying to get the stock muffler and cat on and configured properly for california's smog test...in the process, as i was removing the heat exchangers, nuts came off sometimes by themselves, sometimes with an entire head stud, and others with only a fraction of a whole stud...needless to say, i'm fuch'n fuming' and bummed...but I'm replacing all the studs and was curious about thew force it seems to take to screw the end into the cylinder head...ive been advised against loc-tite - and id rather go naked in there, but some knowledge would be greatly appreciated...another thing about the carrera vs. the turbo is the vast amount of info to be found with ease for the baby, and the lack thereof, for the beast...
...i know its the wrong forum, but i think we all hop the fences sometimes, so i am going to ask about the following pics...comin off the cat is a tube with a rubber hose connected...where is the hose supposed to go???in a stock turbo set-up???thanks, and enjoy, ya'll!!!

Wholio, I would not think it would take much force to screw in the studs. You might want to use a rethreader in there first to clean up the threads. Great looking Car! Steve

Hey, nice car. I wouldn't worry too much other than the dificulty of those studs coming out when broken. But there are many here who have a jig to borrow or buy that make it easy to drill them out and retap.
That hose is probably part of the air recerculation that is part of the little injectors you see when your looking at the exhaust studs on the heads. Not sure though. Pelican has diagrams showing detailed parts of each system. Good luck.
