The one that you have bid on seems nice too:
Alas, it is red as well. Oh, did you hear that the Calgary '67S is back on the block after the winning bidder bounced a check? Now the seller wants $12k -- even though the winning bid was $10,150. |

I hadn't heard about the 67S! Given the previous comments from the seller, I didn't think a sale at $10k would go through.
Yep, I bid on the other one since I'd be lots more comfortable driving it and (avert your eyes, faint-hearted ones) re-painting it from that awful non-period-correct red. The catch is that the car is actually a '65 (according to the VIN) and the interior isn't original (missing wooden dash insert, wooden steering wheel). Then there's the external mirror, wipers, missing bumper trim and over-riders. But it's one of the few with the original wheels/hubcap combo I've seen, and chrome trim-fittings rather than switched to black anodized. The interior looks nice, but I've e-mailed for pictures of the carpet and trunk as I've got doubts that they're period-correct as well. Emanuel

I see that this car went for $6300.
Emanuel, you took a pass. Was something wrong? |

Emanuel, wasn't that red 66 on eBay previously (or maybe just on the internet somewhere)??? Pretty sure it was and I recall it was priced in the high-20's! Nice car, for sure. -- Curt

THIS BOARD IS WRONG!!! I was monitoring the auction and noticed it creeping up. About 20 minutes before it was scheduled to end I logged on and kept refreshing the page. Then I opened another window and started reading this board. Next time I looked, the auction was over. I've never liked bid-bots, but I may have to get over that. Or avoid Pelican's site until the fat lady sings. ![]() I'm seriously kicking myself on this one. I'd exchanged e-mail and talked to the owner, and I'm pretty confident that this car was it: reasonably priced, solid and engine in tune. My only remaining concern was the color, which I'd probably get used to (I got used to it on the '83, after all). The winner looks solid as well. The last car I bid on, I was outbid by someone with 0 feedback. The seller contacted me a week later saying the guy had flaked, but I'd already bid on this car, which was better and around the same price. Emanuel

Never fear, Ebay is as close as you will get to a perfect bidder/sellers market. If this one went for $6300, then there will be others that will do the same...
