Long Island NY car hang out 9/10?

Hi all, I heard there is a big hang out at Bald hill in Farmingville on Mondays. I will be taking my 1st trip there on 9/10. I do not know if anyone else has been there or not. Any feedback would be good, or if you can make it with a P car it would be cool!

Have never been there personally but there is a big group of NY/NJ/CT guys that all drive together some what often. I will be setting up a run for Thanksgiving weekend. It was a great time last year, I encourage you to come if you can make it.

The old gin mill called OBI on Ocean Pkwy, about 1 mile west of the Sag Pkwy intersection has a huge parking lot on the ocean and draws about 200-300 muscle, collector, and every other kind of exotics there Sunday mornings.

some guys trailer their machines, and sometimes it draws exotics for sale

get there early, around 7-7:30am for a place to park

there is a regular w/a black 930, a guy with a white boxster, but not many other Porsches.

It's a great place to arrange a meet

A few friends of mine have been there and said its real good. I have kids and sports events on my only day off.(sunday) I do plan on getting there at least one time this year.

I'd figure that you'd want to leave the earliest at 9am for a decent dose of what's happening

I've been to the OBI gathering a few times in the past, the guy with the 930 is a good guy, his name is Mike and he goes there on a regular basis. The lack of Porsches and increase in a slightly less desirable element chased me out of going more often.

The Bald Hill thing sounds interesting, I'm in the Village of Bellport so it's not a long drive for me and it would be good to do something a little different for a change. I'll check back on this thread Sunday to see how many may be there. I may even be able to be convinced to check out OBI one more time if enough of us are interested. Would be nice to put a face to the posts!

Is the OBI and Captree two different meets? I was under the impression that it just moved from Captree to OBI in the summer but I have never been to it at the OBI. I believe they are back in Captree now?
As far as Bald Hill, I used to go all the time in my muscle car days. I have been hearing about it lately but was not sure I would go with the Porsche. If a bunch of you guys want to go I will attend also. This Monday? Who is in?

OBI and Captree are the same bunch of guys. OBI in the summer and Captree in the winter. I think they move to Captree after the entry fee is lifted for off season, not sure what date that is.

Like I said, if 3 or 4 of us are ready to go and I'll be in on Monday or Sunday - maybe even both. I gotta do something before the car goes back into hibernation for the winter.

By the way, anyone plan on bringing a wife, girlfriend etc.?

Both places are very very close to each other. Maybe 1-2 mile

It would be great to see some other long island Porsches. Been to OBI and Cabtree but not bald hill. What time is the bald hill show.

I heard from 5 pm and up, I will be there around 6pm. I took my car for its second ride today with no problems. So If no problems I should be there between 5:30-6 pm.

By the way, If you going to captree/obi make sure you are legal and have a front plate on. The cops are busting chops there ever since a guy with a mazda w/ a ls motor and a six speed, hit his auto start by accident and the car started, hit a few cars and went into the bay! I know the tow driver who pulled it out.

Obi is on the south shore of Long Island. Get onto the island and you can get south to Ocean Parkway on the Meadowbrook Parkway. Keep going east on the Ocean Parkway till you get there, it's quite a few miles but a nice duned beach drive. It will be on your right hand side, no signage so watch for it. If I remember you may see a sign for Oak Beach, you'll know you're close then. And yes, watch out for the cops, they love it out there on Sunday! If the group is at Captree then you just continue east until you see the signs for Captree State park.

Bald Hill location, I will leave up to someone who knows Farmingville better than I do.

We're in for some crap weather here on the island today and tonight, but it is supposed to be nice tomorrow. Looks like I'm missing the Jets game (no big loss) and cutting my lawn Tuesday night!
