Need some help on Hi-torque starter wiring

So the part I thought would be harder was easy (R&R on the starter), and the part I thought would be easy (wiring) is proving to be a head scratcher. Probably because I'm a dope. I did read and follow the online guide.

Here is what is going on. Got the wiring all connected to the post on the new hi-torque starter except it isn't turning over.

I used the dual spade jumper but no dice. The starter will crank right over if I jump to a hot terminal, so it seems like it is to do with the starter

This car was seriously hacked by the DPO, pretty sure Porsche never used speaker wire for any ignition lines. Any ideas for me here?

I have the thick black cable connected to the post on top of the starter, as are the other lines you see here except for one always live post.

I'm missing the circuit that "excites" the starter...

Guys - does that look like a 3.2 starter relay even?

That looks like a universal (or ford style) solenoid?

Thanks Einar - so if my other reading here is correct that should come out and I should try to run more of a stock wiring configuration to the new hi-torque starter?

The high torque starter should have two terminals..one large threaded for battery power and a spade terminal for the ignition switch. I don't quite understand why there would be a secondary solenoid.? Here's a photo from under my car of the two terminals on the starter. Perhaps the PO put a second solenoid to act as a battery cut off switch to the starter?

Not sure, I suspect that the DPO put that in as a work around rather than solving the core issue.

So I have the large battery wire connected directly, will try the other lines removed from this DPO solenoid and see where that gets me?

Here's a starter wiring diagram as it relates to installing a relay on the ignition switch side, mainly to save wear and tear on the increasingly costly ign. switch.

BTW, there's no/little difference between the starting circuits of a factory and a torque-reduction starter. I think you have all the basic ingredients in that closeup photo.

The small screw post looks to be the no. 50 terminal for the ignition switch wire (Yellow). Perhaps you can upload another pic that includes more of the related scene and at a slightly different angle to observe the other terminals, wires and connections.

What's connected to the speaker wire, or is it just passing by?

Need to run that down still - probably something important like the ECU to engine controls if the DPO was consistent. Ugh.

Here is some of what I already dealt with...

If the starter turns over when it is "hot wired" then you need to look at the circuit with the yellow wire. You may have upset it when pulling out the alarm and what not.
