Rotor and TDC question
I did my first spark plug replacement today on my 77 911. I did like many of you said and took my time. I made my own tool for removal/placement which worked great. Welded a spark plug socket, 3" extension and a 1 1/2" extension together.
I was worried about cross-threading however, you get a feel for it. As I was doing this, I came across something I need help on. As I was turning the pulley to set the points, I noticed that when I was at TDC on the pulley, I could not get the rotor to also lineup with the notch on the distributor. My rotor (see picture) is a strange shape. I was using point "A" to try and lineup the notch on the distributor and TDC on the pulley. The only way I could get both to lineup was using point"B" on the rotor. I am now confused regarding what point on the rotor I should use, A or B or something else.. Like I said, if it's A I can not get it and the pulley TDC to line up for valve #1. I need to work this out so that I can adjust my values at a later date. Thanks in advance for your help. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1349148029.jpg |
No problem , The actual tip of the rotor is "B" as depicted in your photo, The other terminal sends the secondary current to ground when you reach the rpm limit, It is stamped under the rotor, So use "B"
Hope this helps, Lou |
+1
It's the B contact point. |
Thank you for pointing out the right spot.
I was looking at the wrong location or the rotor. Thanks again |
