Spark Plug Condition

Guys,

How do these plugs look.? I thought I might have been running a little rich or I might have had a fowled plug, but these do not look too bad.

Hard to tell from the picture provided, but they appear to have normal wear with the exception of the two on the far right.

In my opinion #5 looks "dirty" that could be your fowled plug. Check your cap, I just did a tune up and found a bad wire. When I looked in the cap on top where the wire plugs in I was shocked to see all of the crud and burn marks.

Found a bad wire on #5. Thanks. They are Clewett wires. I have not been happy with them . Just ordered a set of Magnacor 8.5mm wires.

If these are out of your 1984 3.2 they are fine and not fouled..they are just uneven. A bad wire on #5 explains its appearance. #2 and #3 are even colored.

With an air cooled engine, a remote distance photo of the plugs and no telling if the engine was cold and idled for a while..the uneven plug coloring is not a good way to read spark plugs.

Just for fun, check your intake gaskets for leaks. 3.2 engines eat them.

Just completed a valve adjustment and oil change. Replaced the spark plugs, ditributor cap and rotor. Also replaced the Clewett spark plug wires with Magnacore 8.5mm wires. The car runs like a champ. Good power though the entire RPM band and very good throttle response. It is the best it has run in the 6 years I've owend it.

DB_Cooper: I replaced all the intake gaskets about 5,000 miles ago.
