correct interior for 84 911 question

I am looking at purchasing a grey market 84 3.2 Targa here in the US - it is a French market car imported many years ago and is in good condition. It has the seats and steering wheel that I am accustom to seeing in the 85+ cars, I'm wondering if the French market cars got the updated interior before the US or if it has been changed at some point. I do not have the build date handy.
Thanks for any help.

I don't think they got the interior changes early. Two things are more likely. Either it's been changed, or it was an '85 model built in calendar year 1984 and originally registered as an '84 in a country where the first registration date dictates what "year" the car is. It sounds odd but there are a few countries that do that.

Have a look at the 10th digit of the VIN. An '84 will have an E in that position, an '85 will have an F.

I can't tell you about French Market cars, but my Swiss market '84 3.2 came with the old SC style steering wheel and old style non electric seats.

I'd guess there would not be much difference between these markets.

Thank you for that Info - I did not know about the vin designations. It's not a deal killer for me with the later stuff, I actually like it better, just found it a little strange.
