Looking forward to the new book. All these little teasers are doing their job. Will it have a section on best practice for breaking in a rebuilt engine?

Engine Run-in and Dyno Testing

Now it’s time for the really exciting part. In this chapter, you’ll re-install the engine into your engine bay, and start it up for the first time. There are a few very important break-in procedures that we’ll cover in this chapter, along with a bonus section on dyno testing. An important note to remember during these final steps is not to rush. There is a potential to hurry in this section because you’re excited about starting and running your engine. Keep it slow and safe – you don’t want to ruin your fresh rebuild, or even worse, injure yourself or start a fire!

Engine Break-In

Careful attention to detail is required when you are running in your newly rebuilt engine. It’s important to follow the guidelines detailed here, as many small parts in your engine are beginning to mesh and wear together. These first few moments of your engine’s life are very important. Wear patterns are initiated in this break-in stage, and must be begun properly, otherwise your freshly rebuilt engine will wear out faster than you’d like.

What is Break-In? – Before we start discussing what you need to do and what you need to avoid when first starting your engine, let’s talk for a moment about what exactly the break-in of your engine really means...

Need I say more?

Porsche Crest Tease

You're killin' me with this.......what's the chance that these books will be available on CD for those who hide behind a computer screen at work?.......you know...for something to study during break time.

The B&W books will be available around August 1st. I'm not going to release anything on CD-ROM because there's too many people who use Napster around here. Even if someone photocopies the B&W book, it will cost them a lot, it will be difficult to do (they will be bound with a spiral or plastic binder), and all the photos will indeed be in B&W...

There's too many dishonest people out there selling factory manuals on CD-ROM, etc. - not worth the risk of letting it out...

How does the oil get from the cam towers to the scavenge pump intake in this engine? I could use one of these designs to eliminate those pesky oil return tube o-rings. Jim
